The need for an upgrade of an existing temporary ramp connecting two wings of the London Campus of the prestigious fashion school Istituto Marangoni, lead Draisci Studio to formulate also a proposal to make best use of the existing environment by creating a glass enclosure annex to the ramp and re-think the lighting layout.
The new ramp acts as a focus for the generous school Hall, being both a connecting elements and an informal catwalk. Consistently clad in Oak, it appears as a warm and welcoming sculptural piece supporting a new lightweight glass enclosure that blends with the existing environment.
The ramp/glass system provides privacy while still allowing natural light to flood the new lounge space for the Master students.
